Hi All: I don't usually bill for injectables as I deal with anesthesia so I need help. With J3420, the code states that it is up to 1000 mcg and the medicare reimbursement for our area is $0.24. The physician injected 1000 mcg. Is the code J3420 billed with one, 10 or 100 units? Thanks for your assistance.

Cheryl

Cheryl, It would be billed with one unit. Since the code description specified "up to 1000mcg", that means the code would be billed once (with one unit) for any dose given of 1000mcg or less.

I hope that helps.
