Wiki Need help with tc modifier

I am so confused over the use of the TC modifier. Any help will be appreciated. We have a doctor who has recently become the Director of a Sleep Study facility. I have been instructed to bill these sleep studies with a TC modifier. The facility is billing patients over $3000 a study, yet a TC modifier allowable amount does not even come close to this amount. Shouldn't someone be billing the procedures without the modifier??? The codes we have been using are 95810-TC and 95811-TC.

TC modifier

A TC modifier is used for the technical component only and for the facility fee. In other words if you are not billing the package of both professional and technical charge as one code then you can separate them with the use of the modifiers 26 or TC which ever you are billing for, in your case you are billing for the facility or technical portion of the study.
