Hello all,

Can anybody suggest me an alternate ICD for cholelithiasis with chronic cholecystitis for a 12 yrs old patient.

Our software is not accepting the 574.11 code for this patient with 12 yrs of age.

You're using the correct code

If this is what the child has, you are using the correct code. I think your problem is your software.

(I was just at a seminar last week where a surgeon commented that he's seen an 8-yr-old with gall stones! He attributes this to the generally high-fat, high protein diets of Americans today.)

If you cannot override it, then code signs/symptoms.

Hi,

574.10 is correct code.If they mention in the chart as (with obstruction)then we need to take 574.11.
