can someone tell me what procedure code you would use for exploratory laparotomy with lysis of adhesions?
Thank you

49000 (exp lap) and 44005 (lysis of adhesions) are both listed in CPT as separate procedures which means they are not separately reportable if performed in a region anatomically related to another surgical procedure(s) through the same skin incision, orifice, or surgical approach.

However, if these are the only procedures performed, then bill 44005 as it pays more and has higher work RVUs.

You cannot bill both of these together if performed during the same surgical session.
