I have a op note that reads wrist incision overlying the extensor compartments. The retinaculum was identified and freed up for the first, second and third extensor compartments. There was a separate slip for the extensor pollicis brevis tendon that was also released. Not sure what codes to use for this one. 25000 x3 or what????

I just went through this with my physician's, and they only specified release of the compartments. when I asked one of my Dr's, he actually informed me that he released a total of 7 tendons. He had to re-dictate and specify the tendons so that I could bill each one separately. I was able to get him more money by having him be more specific and clarify what he actually performed. This always seems to be a problem with my facility and my Docs would much rather me ask especially if I can get them more money!
