Hi ,
I have a patient who have nephrourenal stent change. The consent says nephrostomy tube change(nephrorenal stent). The radiologist documentation of procedure explains nephroureteral stent. So I guess it would be coded as nephrourenal stent.
Can someone tell me if 50382 is correct code for following procedure or 50398. or different Code.
History
ulled previously placed left nephroureteral stent. Needs
placement of a new left nephroureteral stent.
Total fluoroscopy time is approximately 8 minutes and 4 seconds.
Procedure:
All elements of maximal sterile barrier technique were used(
including cap, mask, sterile gown, sterile gloves, large sterile
sheet, hand hygiene, 2%chlorhexidine for cutaneous antisepsis or
acceptable alternative antiseptics per current guidelines).
After obtaining informed consent, fluoroscopic guidance and under
aseptic conditions the site of previously placed left nephroureteral
stent was identified and 5 French the catheter was introduced over a
0.035 road glide wire was successfully placed in the left renal
system the left ureter eventually within the bladder. Over a 0.035
Roadrunner wire 8 French 22 cm long was successfully placed with cope
loops on within left renal collecting system and bladder. The
catheter was locked and secured with specificity dressings.
Approximately 10 cc of contrast was also injected at the position of
the left stent. There was normal transit of contrast seen on left
collecting system into the bladder. Further management and catheter
care is signed off Dr. D. Patient may be a candidate for
placement of double-J stents.
Impression: Successful placement of a left -sided nephroureteral
stent as described above.Patient may be a candidate for placement of
a double-J stent.
Plan: Patient is advised to flush the catheter with 10 cc normal
saline every day. Routine exchange of this catheter after 8 to 10
weeks may be of clinical value.
