Hi all,
My General Surgeon says he removed 3 nerve bundles and to code 64795 x's3. Here is his op report:
Local Anesthesia. A 5cm incision was made over the site of previous trigger point injections. A 7x5cm area of anterior abdominal wall was then exposed up to the midline medially and 2cms beyond the lateral rectus margin laterally (7cm medical to lateral). Superiorly till the costal margin. Inferiorly 5cm below the costal margin. Three neurovascular bundles were excised as they exited the anterior rectus sheath. 2 nerves were sent to pathology: one for frozen section (confirmed). Hemostatis was assured. Wound irrigated. Incision closed in 2 layers; 2-0 vicryl and 4-0 monocryl. Skin sealant applied.
He only made 1 incision so I'm not sure it's correct to bill 64795 x's 3, though he did take 3 nerve bundles.
Any thoughts? I know how I would code it if it were moles (x's 1) but I'm not sure when it comes to nerves.
