I just started billing neurology and I'm struggling with two CPT codes that my doctor is biling together. Hes billing 95908 and 95860 together and the book says use EMG codes 95860-95864 when no nerve conduction studies are performed on the same day, and he is billing a nerve conduction study 95908. Am I missing something? Please Help, And he's also biling a new pt 99204.
Thank you

When EMG and NCV are performed together, you'll use 95908 for the NCV (or any code in the 95907-95913 series, based on the number of nerves tested, with 95885 or 95886 for the EMG, depending on the number of muscles in each limb, and the number of limbs, tested. 95860-95864 are ONLY used when EMG is performed WITHOUT NCV. There shouldn't be any problem billing an E/M service on the same day, as long as documentation supports it.

HTH!
