Our claims for Athem BC BS of VA have started denying neuropsychological testing codes 96132 & 96138 when being billed with an E&M. We are using 59 modifiers on the testing codes and no modifier on the E&M. All same claims were processed &/or paid prior to November 2020. Since then, the claims are being denied. We are now submitting the medical records and the claims are still denied. Is this happening to anyone else or can someone enlighten us as to what has happened? We have searched for their guidelines regarding these codes and coming up empty handed. Please help!

Anthem is notorious for refusing to pay for an E&M code with anything else.

I would suggest you not schedule an evaluation on the same day you schedule psych testing.
