Do the new codes 19081-19086 require that a loc device be implanted? We often do needle core breast biopsies in the office using US guidance w/o placement of a loc device. What would be the correct coding for this?
 
2014 breast biopsy codes

The new codes state, "when performed", for the placement of breast localization devices. If it is placed, there is no additional code to report. If there is no clip or maker placed, you would still use the same code.
