What modifier is appropriate to use when a patient is still in the global from surgery and then has to have a different surgery not related to the first surgery by a different specialty physician?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I would use Modifier 79 for surgical procedures unrelated to the reason for the global period

Different surgeon and different specialty

If it's a differen surgeon of a different specialty, you should not need any modifier.

modifier 79

:)that is correct, you can use 79 if the same provider is performing the second surgery, but if different provider in a different specialty will not need a modifier.
