I need some information on coding for ortho. I would like to begin coding for ortho and need some info on classes, seminars, etc. Please send me all your ideas and how you got started.

I would read or attend any conferences that Margie Scalley Vaught is at or has written. She is really knowledgeable and a great speaker. She can bring things down to a level for someone new into ortho coding. Make sure that your up on your medical terminology for ortho also that will be a big help. Hope this helps.

Speaking of terminology, there is a wonderful Ortho terminology book that Margie had recommended called A Manual of Orthopaedic Terminology seventh edition by Fred R.T. Nelson, MD, FAAOS and Carolyn Taliaferro Blauvelt. we got ours off line somewhere. but i am sure you can find one in a book store. If you work in an office dont be afraid to talk to your doctors, or the person that does the coding already. they should be a big help.
