C'mon, really?

I just got my new CPT book and noticed that 88342 is changing yet again. It is going from "per block" to "per specimen" again, but only for the first stain per specimen. Any additional stains per specimen are 88341. 88344 is going to be for multiplex stains. 88343 has been deleted.

I hate to be disgruntled, but why is AMA making this so much more complicated than it needs to be?

How is 88341 going to make it easier on the claims? Is this something Medicare agrees with? Or will it be like 88343?
Is it too soon to tell?
