Wiki New immunization status codes not being honored

Since good old Z28.3 was superseded by three codes, Z28.39, Z28.310, and Z28.311 on April 1, 2022, we have gotten tons of rejections. Some insurance companies (Healthfirst, for one) seem to be refusing to accept the new codes. Unfortunately, our billing software now refuses to accept the old one! Is any one else encountering this problem, and how are you working around it?

Being that those codes are the updated codes, then that is what you'll need to use. You'll have to let the insurance companies know that the code set has been updated, and the coding is correct (if it is). I have not encountered this problem, as these are not codes that we commonly use in the hospital that I work for, nonetheless, I'd let them know coding is correct and they'll need to adjust their practices accordingly unfortunately.
