I need help with this situation.

New OB, new OB intake visit. Patient has been confirmed pregnant, though method not noted. (whether home pregnancy, i.e.) Upon new OB visit, it is apparent that the patient is miscarrying. Ultrasound is done.

Would you bill a new patient visit with threatened AB and same for ultrasound?

Thanks for any help you can give. It appears if you start the OB record at this time, the physician will not be paid accurately.....?

Hello. Yes, I would still use a new patient visit, along with what documentation the dr wrote whether symptoms or TAB..until its confirmed that a SAB has happened. Im really not sure about coding ultrasounds, but NST's would be done the same way. In my opinion, she is still pregnant until confirmed by the doctor and/or labwork that her hcg's come back lower, and confirmed as TAB.
