The question is: Patient was seen on 6/9/25 for a 92083 (TC) in the physicians office by a tech and no face to face with physician. Patient came back on 6/10/25 with the physician for face to face and we billed 99204 (new pt), 92133, 92020, 76514, and 92083. Is it appropriate to bill the office visit a new patient or should it be a established patient code? All billed under the same Tax ID?

All input is appreciated.

Thank you,
CherylB

Hello, I’m not an expert, but I had the same question before and received conflicting answers, but with some experience and after reading others responses, I would bill this visit as New with physician because it was First face-to-face with the provider. Like you said the diagnostic studies were done with technician only, not the actual billing professional provider. Will be interesting to see other responses.
