Was told today by a consultant that for OB, pt is considered new after not being seen in 24 months. ?!?!? Was anyone else every heard of this? Could not give me any info, was just insistent about it. Wondering if anyone else has ever heard that.

Thanks-Wen

I have never heard of that either. I work for an Ob/Gyn office. We go by what the code book says. 3 or more years without being seen is a new pt. If they have been seen by any of our docs within that last 3 years, they are established.
