Hello!

So my company that I previously worked for has been bought out by a new medical clinic. This means that all the providers NPI numbers have stayed the same but the group Tax ID and the group NPI number have changed. So my question is, for all the patient's that the providers have seen in the past that they are technically already established with, are they now considered a 'new' patient to all the insurance companies? Or do I continue to bill the visits as established E/M visits? I have been getting a TON of different answers from people within the clinic. Anything helps.

Thank you.

Group practice (defined by TIN) only comes into play when they have not seen the exact provider before.

You are established to an individual provider no matter what practice they are with. The ony factor that comes into play in that situation is the three year rule.
