I would love some advise from anybody who has had experience with a new patient that wants to come "meet the doctor".
For example, I have a young lady who is new to the area and would like to become established with our practice. She is up to date on her PE and pap smear, and is only taking bcp from her gyn.
I am wondering if we can tell the patient up front that there will be an out of pocket charge for this meet and greet. Is there something to bill if you are only going over her history (no exam, no HPI, no counselling, or coordination of care)? If there's nothing to bill, is it against insurance contracts to charge the patient?
Thanks in advance,
Megan Barber, CPC
