Hello, my office currently has a separate PM and EMR platform. We are looking to possibly merge to a new software program to have one system for both PM and the EMR. I am just looking to see if there are any Orthopedic practices out there who currently have a system they either love or hate. Looking for some suggestions or warnings please :)

What size practice is it?
My experience is with NextGen for ortho but I have used other systems. It was good in my experience. I think a lot of it goes back to how well it was initially set up, end user training, and your IT department.
I would just caution with any practice management system or EHR, beware of false claims that they will "increase all your code levels!" or "increase payments!". Beware of cloning and templates that can't be altered or manually updated with unique information to the patient and encounter. There are uses for templates and some automation but the ones that claim they will instantly increase your revenue and/or up your E/M levels with no human intervention should be avoided in my opinion. You also want to consider integration with the claims clearinghouse and other functions for your revenue cycle. I think I have heard a lot use Athena too. Of course there's Epic.

They all have their pros and cons. Training and updates and correct management of the system is key. Also, working with providers and staff to customize it to the needs of the practice.

AAOS or Zupko might have advice, I'm sure they can't outright endorse one or another but they might have tips: https://www.aaos.org/quality/practice-management/ https://karenzupko.com/
