We have a physician who has started her own practice, and is currently the only physician in this practice. She is practicing at an existing radiation oncology department and she was a part of the old practice prior to starting her own. My question is in regards to the patients that she is seeing in follow up after radiation therapy, and whether or not they are new or established patients to her. These patients were treated at the facility under the old practice, of which the physician was a part of, but they never saw this physician. Since these patients are seeing this particular physician now for the first time, and she is now in a different practice, would these be considered new patients because they are new to her and to her practice?

If it's a new practice and a new physician for the patients, there is no reason for these visits to be anytihng other than new pateint visits.
