I just got back from vacation and am having a memory lapse...We have a doctor that is out on sick leave. Another one of our docs is covering for her. For the covering doc these are new pts but not new to the facility, I'm thinking that we cannot bill these as new pts since they are established to our facility. Someone here said we should because they are new to him but I'm remembering that we cannot. Please help me get over this "vacation-itis" am I remembering correctly?

Thanks!

If the patients have been seen under the same tax ID, they are considered established patients even though they are new to the covering doc. You are remembering correctly. Welcome back!!
