Hello,
We are having questions raised about new pt vs established. Need clarification please.

If we see a patient in the hospital because we were on trauma call and then the patient comes to our office for a follow up or post op visit, is that pt a new pt because they have not been established in our office, or are they an established pt because we saw them at the hospital?

THANK YOU !!!!!!!

They are established, because one of the providers in the same group (and same specialty) has already billed a face to face service to the patient. The fact that it was a different POS is irrelevant.

HTH!
