I was asked to find the correct ICD-9 for "benign mass of the pancreas." While the "mass" is not necesarrily being identified as a "tumor", would 211.6 (benign neoplasm of the pancreas) be correct? Another coder is also suggesting 577.9. Any thoughts on this?
 
I agree with the code you picked. Since you are working in Onc it makes sense to code from the neoplasm table.
