Hello,

If an established patient who has only been seen at our practice by their PCP becomes pregnant and is referred to the midwives for care at the same practice, would the first visit with the midwife be considered new or established? Any insight is appreciated!

Thanks!

A new patient is a patient who:

- Has not been seen in the past 3 yrs
- By a physician or other physician of the same specialty (or subspecialty) who belong to the same practice

So you will need to review this based on the specialty (or subspecialty) of the PCP in relationship to the midwife.
