Wiki New Vs. Established

Can someone help clarify for me? A physician is switching groups and some of the current patients will follow the doctor to the new group practice. If they have been seen within the last three years are they new or established patients? I believe it is established but just want to double check myself.

They are established patients.

Yep, established. The practice part comes into play when they are seeing another doctor but in the same group practice--that counts towards their 3 years. So, if Dr. X is their PCP, but one visit within those 3 years, they see Dr. Z, that still continues to count them as established.
