Does anyone have a like cheat sheet to understand admit and discharge for newborns... really appreciate it.
Gets a bit confused when baby is admitted and discharged less than 24 hours and it involves 2 different dates.

Baby born: 1/24
Admit 1/24: 801pm
Discharged 1/25: 12pm
H&P & discharge was done on 1/25.

So in this scenario, should the provider be billing 99463 for same day admit/discharge or

1/24 - 99460
1/25 - 99238

I have the exact same scenario and I'm interested in hearing the feedback.

If the physician provides initial normal newborn care on the date after the day of birth and on that same date discharges the newborn to home, report same date admit and discharge services, 99463. Consider the date the physician provides the service not the date of birth. Does that help? Or is your question for facility billing?
