Hi , I was referring code for Hypoalbuminemia in newborn and could not find any specific code to report the diagnosis. Finally my team concluded two options
1. P96.89- Other specified conditions originating in the perinatal period and E88.09 - Other disorders of plasma-protein metabolism, not elsewhere classified
2. P748 -Other transitory metabolic disturbances of newborn
Since the dx hypoalbuminemia is a metabolic disorder option 2 was suggested here however , P748 - Does not specify hypoalbuminemia as one of the component in any description. So far no coding guidelines are found to refer this question.
If anyone can share your thoughts on the selection of codes for this case, It would help to resolve the case. Thank you.
