Our Doctors are now employed by the hospital themselves and the hospital bills for all newborn charges in the hospital setting. Since these are billed under the hospitals tax id would they be considered a new pt when we see them in our office?

Same Provider, different group practice would be established.

Different provider in Different group practice would be new.

Once they see the same provider in the new group practice they are established to all other providers with the same specialty and Sub specialty in the group practice.

I guess I am confused. They are employed by the hospital and by us as well, so there are 2 different groups. All of the newborn charges are billed by the hospital. Because of that they would be a new patient because its a different group?

It depends who saw the newborn in the hospital and who saw the newborn in the office.

If the same provider who sees the patient in the hospital, then sees the patient in the office, Its an established patient.

If the provider who sees the patient in the office, did not see the patient when they were in the hospital, They can bill as new patient
