Hello, We have seen many cases come through as "monitoring only" with no sedation given.
The CRNA is present to make sure the patient is not under great distress from the procedure being performed without the anesthetic, as requested by the surgeon.
The CRNA did perform a pre-op evaluation.
Would this be acceptable to report the CRNA's time as an E/M service?
I understand this will not be able to be represented as MAC or conscious sedation.
Thoughts?

Thank you in advance!

What about the Standby Service code 99360? It can be billed for every 30 minutes on standby if the CRNA did not provide care or services to anyone else during the time (which is what the code requires).

It states it is to be used by "a physician or other qualified health care professional" so you might be able to use it for a CRNA but I would call the carrier to make sure they even have the code on their fee schedule first.
