If a provider is not a DME credentialed provider can they still provide DME products to Medicare patients as a cash pay service? If so are they required to have the patient sign an ABN at the time of service since Medicare would pay if they were a DME provider. Also I know for most of us it is common sense that making a patient sign an ABN after the fact is not acceptable since it is an "advanced notice" but is there somewhere that states this is illegal? I have an Office Manager who does not understand this concept. Thanks
