I have a question about selecting codes for pre-natal patients when we are utilizing "Normal First Pregnancy" codes. Forgive me if this sounds foolish, but what justifies "First" pregnancy? I have a patient who has experienced several spontaneous abortions in the past, Would this be a scenario in which I would use "Encounter for other normal pregnancy"? I reviewed the guidelines and it seems very gray so I wanted to consult other folks to see your take on this.
