Our office does Non stress test in the office. Some of these are short and only take about 20 minutes others the nurse is monitoring them for almost 2 hours. Is there something else we can bill if the patient is in the office being monitored for longer periods of time. We usually just bill 59025 and if they have an u/s we bill that as well. We are just trying to figure out if it's worth the nurses time to monitor the patients for that long and we are only getting reimbures for the 59025.

What E&M code did you bill? I would try billing for prolonged services added to the E&M code. Be prepared to send notes to justify medical necessity of the length of time you are billing for.
