I have a Psychologist who has recently hired two NP's. The first one is a Family Nurse Practitioner and the second is a Geriatric Nurse Practitioner. The psychologist goes into SNFs to see patients and he wants to know can these two NPs go in and see patients even though they are not psychiatric? He wants them to be able to prescribe antidepressants and anxiolytics and bill for the service. What I have found while researching says that they can but if this not something with in their scope of practice to proceed with caution. Any help with clarification would be greatly appreciated.
