Wiki Nursing Home Signatures

Our hospital receives a lot of outpatient lab orders from nursing homes that come to HIM unsigned. We are having trouble getting a copy of the signed orders from the nursing homes. Our compliance officer suggested that since the nursing homes are required to have all orders signed at their facility that maybe our hospital would not need to also have these on file.
How are other hospitals handling provider signatures that are missing on telephone orders taken at nursing homes for hospital outpatient services? Most of the orders come from providers who do not work at our hospital. Is the hospital required to have these signatures on file or would it fall on the nursing home to have this if audited? Any help on this is appreciated!!
