One of my providers sees nursing home and assisted living patients on-site. Last month a patient was prescribed a new medication for one condition and a wound culture was deferred for lack of proper supplies. This month, the provider and her medical assistant went back to the nursing home (POS 32, not a skilled nursing facility stay). The MA saw the patient while the MD was also on the floor. The MA collected the specimen for culture and took photos of the area treated by the prescription. Is this billable in any way?

Thanks Deb. That's what I thought, but we bill such a low volume in nursing home/assisted living that some of the nuances escape me. I appreciate your time and response.
