Can someone clarify if we can bill NYS Medicaid with a PA NPI if the overseeing ER doctor signs the note? We have conflicting answers here, some say we cannot bill Medicaid if the PA saw the patient and then some who say can bill the PA visit as long as the overseeing signs the note.

Can someone help clarify.

This is what I was able to find:

https://www.emedny.org/hipaa/News/csc_emedny_news/837_Billing_Reminder_to_Physicians.pdf

NYS Medicaid will deny all claims when the Physician's
Assistant is reported as the Billing Provider; or when the
Physician's Assistant Medicaid ID number is entered as the
Rendering provider but no Supervising Physician is entered.
Medicaid policy does not allow Physician's Assistants to bill
Medicaid directly.

So if MD was supervising, list PA information as rendering and include the supervising physician information. The above link says where to put the information
