Does anyone know if you split up a global charge if a pt has 2 different types of government insurance throughout her pregnancy. I know you slpit it up if a pt has say... Blue Cross and then has Providence, but I don't know a specific rule for government insurances

Example,

Pt starts AP care with Dr. and has plan A. She has 5 AP visits then her insurance swithches to a different government plan for the remainder of her care, delivery and PP.

Should it be slpit up into 59425 for plan A and 59426, 59410 for plan B. Or can it stay a global charge since they are both government insurances?
If you could give me a site with guidelines for this issue I would really appreciate it. Any help would be useful. Thank you.

Split OB Care

Yes, you would split the OB care.
For Antepartum, with one government plan (59426 or 59425)
For the other government plan code out for Delivery with Post-partum care.
59410, Vaginal and
No, don't let it stay on global charge just because it is a government plan.
Hope this helps,;)

A good website is www.acog.org
