Hi All -

Any comments about this situation?

Patient has amniocentsis and is sent up to the Labor & Delivery department for 2 hours of post-procedure observation. The physicians in L&D want to charge for the observation because they did not do the amnio. However, the physician who did the amnio is a Maternal/Fetal specialist in the same group practice (same tax ID).

My thought is that the observation is included in the procedure and not separately billable because it is part of the global package.
