Wiki Observation Re-Admit, Same Day

I have a patient who was discharged as an OBS in the morning, then re-admitted as on OBS later that afternoon. The re-admit was only for a five-hour period, and since we follow Medicare guidelines, a 99218 (Initial observation care) code is applicable to the re-admit.

My question is, can you bill the OBS discharge and the Initial OBS code for the same date of service?
