If I have a patient who is under observation and been for 24 hours, what place of service do I bill this under? In Patient? Out patient? ER?

OK so I am doing a consult on a patient who is admitted under observation, so I would use POS 22 with a consultation code?

It would depend on the patient's insurance. If it is a Medicare patient, no. You would use an Office/Other Outpatient E/M code (99201-99215).
