Wondering how other facilities code for patients that are seen in the OB area, but bill as an emergency department visit. Based on EMTALA, patients in a "labor" class fall under an emergency condition, so it would seem that as long as signage is present as an Emergency department, that it would be appropriate to bill. Does anyone have any information on how these visits should be coded/billed?
