Does anyone have any idea how to code this surgery?
PREOP DIAGNOSIS: PAINFUL OSTEOPHYTE RIGHT PATELLA
POSTOP DIAGNOSIS: SAME
PROCEDURE: OSTECTOMY RIGHT PATELLA
DESCRIPTION: Under adequate general anesthesia, the RLE was prepped and draped in usual sterile fashion. The tourniquet was inflated and a small incision was made over an anterior osteophyte involving the anterior inferior patella. The quadriceps/patellar tendon was dissected subperiosteally off the bony prominence and the osteophyte was resected with a bur and the bone was smoothed. The wound was irrigated. The split in the tendon was closed with 2-0 Vicryl, the subcu with 2-0 Vicryl, and the skin with 4-0 nylon. The area was anesthetized with 10 cc 0.5% plain Marcaine. A sterile compression dressing was applied. The patient was taken to the recovery room in stable condition.
Thanks very much! Happy Friday!
