ok folks, I don't do blood stuff but now my doc is doing blood stuff. I need a helping hand. He is doing an angiogram of the carotid artery. Goes in the femoral and ends up in the carotid. How do you code that? At least give me an idea where to look. I've been flumoxed. Doc is musculoskelatal radiological doc what is he doing in the carotid? Sorry, had to vent.

Carotid Artery and Angiogram

I am still giggling over your thread...I know you are serious but I remember being in the same boat a while back.

Look under Angiography-Carotid Artery 75660-75680

You need to also code for the catheter, are you sure the doc did it from the femoral? 36100-36299

Good Luck:)

Carotid Angiogram

The codes you need for the for catheter placement if from the femoral artery is 36215 to 36217. I don't know anyone who does direct punctures anymore.
Thanks,
Jim Pawloski

thanks

Thanks for y'alls help. At least I was looking in all the right places. Now I have to figure out how to use those vascular family codes. Scares me right to death, they do. Time to pull out the old school books.
