My Chemo dept is wanting to know if they can accept a "referral" from another physician in the building (For example internal med, or a pain managment specialist) to have a medication administered in the chemo room if the oncologist is not available or has not seen the patient prior to administering the med? Specific example is that our pain management specialist has a patient who receive Reclast one time a year. He normally refers that pt to an outpatient infusion at the hospital. Our oncologist has the med in stock. Can our chemo dept administer the drug, with an order from the pain management specialist, but the drug was purchased by the oncologist and billed out with the chemo dept and oncologist's name on it?

I know...if you're confused..so am I!!!!!
Thanks,
Jen
