We have a patient that came in for a work comp issue AND had the physician look at something else in the same visit (non-work comp-BCBS). If the physician dictates two separate E&M's, can we bill both visits? Thank you
I run into this all the time with my doctors. I always make them dictate two seperate chart notes, one for work comp and one for regular insurance. Sometimes they try to put it all in one note, but I always make them split the two and add everything that is specifically for the work comp to the work comp chart note. The doctor should have done a seperate exam/history/mdm for each of the two problems.
