On 10/10 pt adm to obs w h&p. then on 10/12 Adm to IP w h&p How would u charge this. Since they were admitted would it retro back to 10/10 as IP Thanks for ur help
 
According to our E/M coder, if a true H&P is done and supports a 99221-99223, then code the admit. If the documentation does not support an admit...code a subsequent day. Also check with your carrier to make sure there are no contractual restrictions to billing an admit.
