Has anyone charged for an open subpectoral decompression?? I need to give codes for pre-auth. The dx is slap tear.
I've triple-checked with the sx scheduler. She says this is what the dr wrote, but I can't find anything, and I've never seen it before.
I'm thinking unlisted 23929...?
Thanks

My guess is that you are concentrating on the approach, and not the actual procedure. I think the surgeon is going to do a sub-pectoral biceps tenodesis. The biceps tendon is cut and then anchored. This takes the pressure off of the SLAP tear, hence the name "decompression". Before doing the preauth I would check with the surgeon and verify that this is correct.
