Can anyone explain to me what is the difference between 66170 (in absence of previous surgery) and 66172 (with scarring from previous ocular surgery)

I am not familiar with Opth codes

Thank you

Ophthalmology codes

66170 - This procedure is to promote better drainage of fluid and there is no evidence of scarring from a previous surgery.
66172 - This procedue is the same as above but there may be adhesions from a previous surgery or trauma and they must be reduced.
Hope this helps.
Sharon
