I need some clarification, please. If an Optometrist and an Ophthalmologist are in the same practice, they are considered to be under one "umbrella", correct? For instance, a patient sees an Optometrist for the first time. That Optometrist bills a new patient E/M code. The patient returns (within 3 years) and sees the Ophthalmologist. The Ophthalmologist has to bill an established patient E/M code since they are in the same practice.
Am I correct in my thinking?

Thank you in advance for your response. ;)
